iOrders

Is it twisted to order an iPad from an iPhone and to later order an iPad from an iPad?

Or is that just being a mondo computer geek?

New iPad Wifi-3G 64GB

Been playing with my new iPad almost non-stop since it arrived on Friday.  Checked it out and have been loading apps, music, movies, tv shows, podcasts, itunes university lectures, photos and more.  I have to say, so far the iPad has exceeded my expectations.  I will continue to load and test apps daily to fine tune this device to perfectly fit my needs.

So far I have installed and tested over 200 applications... and I'm only getting started....

Review: Talking Carl

Price: $0.99

Talking Carl.  This is a totally useless app, but I like it because it's funnier then all heck.  I recommend it because it's good for at least a few laughs.

Talking Carl repeats what you say to him back in a humorous voice with hilarious expressions and movement. You can also poke, pinch and tickle Carl to get a reaction out of him.  He'll even grumble at you when you haven't interacted with him while the app is on, and when you shut the app down he says bye bye.  It's a cute app and good for a laugh, but not something you absolutely have to have.

Review: On the Grill

Price: $4.99

Weber's On The Grill, this is THE app for BBQ lovers! This application includes over 250 outstanding tested and approved recipes that have photos and detailed ingredients and step by step prep instructions. The app also includes a cooking timer, tips, videos, technique information, and much more.

I've tried many BBQ and cooking applications for the iPhone and this is one of the best available - it has all the right info that you're looking for in order to make great BBQ feasts.   If you like to cook, specifically BBQ, then this is the application you will want to get.

The best part of this app is that you will learn to improve your BBQ skills with the included instructions and videos, which helps you become a better chef.

Review: Navigon

Price: 79.99 (for USA & CAN version)

Navigon
, Mobile Navigator North America.  This is one of my all time favorite apps - it's also the most expensive app I've ever paid for, but I have to say.. it was well worth it.  This app easily replaces any and all other mapping apps and GPS units out there.  I've owned several GPS units over the years, Magellan, Tom Tom and others, but to-date Navigon is the best GPS application I've had, and its nice to have it built-in to my iPhone so I don't have to carry a separate GPS in the car.

Navigon features turn-by-turn voice instruction which I found to be very fast and accurate. Out of all the GPS navigation systems I've used with voice, this is the only one that gives the instructions well timed in advance of an upcoming turn.  It really sucks when a nav system gives you the instruction within feet of the turn or just after the turn causing you to miss it.  Navigon keeps you on track and works very well.  If you are considering getting a navigation application for your iPhone or iPad, this is my recommendation.  For more info check out the Navigon website

Review: Facebook

Price: Free

Facebook.  If you are a Facebook user, you will love having this application on your iPhone/iPad.  The interface is very well done and the ease of uploading photos and status info etc is fantastic. The fun part of having this application on your iPhone/iPod is being able to update your status where ever you are for friends and family to see and communicate with you.
Facebook is a great way to re-connect with old school mates, family, co-workers and friends.

Review: Google

Price: Free

Google.  This is by far one of the best and most useful applications for the iPhone/iPad yet.  You can search Google via text or voice recognition that is nearly 100% accurate all the times, the accuracy of the voice recognition is truly amazing.

The other part of this app that is really great is the app links directly with your Google accounts: gmail, calendar, docs and more. As a daily user myself of Google apps for gmail, calendar and docs, I find this part of the Google application extremely useful.  I only wish there was a way to also edit the documents within this application too, besides just being able to read them.

All in all this is one very useful application that I highly recommend, and if you haven't checked out Google Docs and all the other available online software yet, you're really missing out... for a complete review of what Google online apps has to offer, go check out this site: http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/index.html

Review: Backgrounds

Price: Free.

Backgrounds
is a basic application that previews background images for you to choose to download and load as your iPhone background.  Simple to use, scroll thru the available images, pick one and follow the instructions to download it to your iPhone. Once downloaded, go to Settings, then to Wallpaper, then Camera Roll, find the image you want to use as your background and click on Set.

It's nice to customize your iPhone with a nice looking background. I change mine out every few months just to see something new now and then.  There's some really nice images to be found using this application, check it out and customize your iPhone today.

iPhone Experience

I'm a big fan of Apple products and I have enjoyed using the iPhone since it's initial release.  I'm currently on my second iPhone, the iPhone 3G. I haven't opted for the 3GS just yet...but only because I'm waiting for the not so super secret anymore 4G that is on the horizon.

I download and test new iPhone apps weekly and currently have nearly 500 applications in my library (those are just the ones I decided to keep). Whenever considering an application, I always read the reviews...a lot of reviews ... to make sure I'm spending my money wisely. That's why I figured I'd start this blog to put together some good real world actual usage reviews to hopefully help others find out whether an app is worth spending the money on or not. Sometimes it is worth it, and sometimes we find out we wasted .99 cents or whatever price it was on a useless waste of time and money app....if you do that a few dozen times (like I have), it adds up after a while... This blog is here to help maybe save you some money.

I just ordered an iPad Wi-Fi 3G 64GB and it should be here around May 15th, can't wait.  I've already been downloading numerous apps for it that have gotten good reviews in the itunes store. I'm looking to use my iPad for business in numerous ways and I'll be posting about my experiences with applications for it.

Stay tuned for many iPhone and iPad application reviews soon!
